We meet during the day, when at-home mothers most need support!
We believe being a mother shouldn't isolate you, so mothers may bring their children with them! Having children present is considered a natural part of life!
We offer some regular events every month which are listed below. Most events are scheduled for 10:00am so you have time to get older kids off to school and still have time to get ready.
Monthly Activities |
| Afternoon Activity |
An afternoon get together may be a special tour, kid's movie at a member's home, trip to the park or simply playtime and a chance to spend time together. |
| Book Club |
Meet every month to discuss whole or part of a book.
Read about our member's book recommendations! |
Coffee Club |
Meet at local coffee shops and talk in a relaxed setting. |
Lunch Bunch |
A quick get together at noon to talk and have a nice lunch. Meet at parks for kids to play or at a local restaurant.
|
Membership Meeting |
Discuss upcoming events and activities. Planning special parties for Valentines, Mother's Day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas.
|
MNO |
MOMS Night Out. We meet at a member's or a local establishment for quality time with other members (without kids). Breastfeeding moms are welcome to bring their infants.
|
Muffin Monday |
This is a get together at a member's home for talking with friends while enjoying a yummy baked treat. Bring a baked good to share.
|
Weekly Events |
Every week, we get together for a tour of a local establishment, play park, or other fun activity. This is a great way to learn what's out there for your kids to do and learn a new city you may have just moved to. Either way, it's about fun! |
Walking Club |
A Spring and Summer event at local parks where we walk from 1-4 miles. The distance is posted ahead of time. This sometimes leads to a nice picnic lunch at a park. |
Other Activities |
| Helping Hands |
Our members volunteer to provide support to members with new babies or who are needing assistance during a difficult time. |
| Playgroups |
Small groups meet on a regular basis at member's homes. This time allows children to play and members to talk and share in the parenting experience. |
| Secret Pals |
The Secret Pals program is a fun way for MOMS to brighten the day of their fellow MOMS. Your "pal" will be chosen at random and it will then become your mission to deliver a little sunshine to them every 2 weeks for the next 3 months - without getting caught! |
| Service Projects |
Quarterly, our chapter provides assistance to local organizations by donating non-perishable items to food banks, monetary donations to charities or participating in fund-raising events which benefit families and children. |
| Remembering Rowan Service Project |
Monthly, the Crafty Chicks meet to work on items for donation such as crocheted blankets and memory boxes to Neo-Natal Intensive Care Units. The Remembering Rowan Project was featured in the Columbian on February 15, 2009:
"Crafting from the heart", by Elisa Williams
When Laurinda Reddig lost her newborn baby in August, bringing home two handmade blankets donated by volunteers helped ease her pain in some small way.
Reddig, a 36-year-old Camas resident and administrative vice president of the MOMS Club of Camas, decided she wanted to help provide that comfort for other grieving parents.
Reddig's been crocheting for nearly 25 years, and in November she taught other members of the club the craft. They've since completed 25 blankets, with at least 16 more in progress. They plan to donate the blankets to Southwest Washington Medical Center and Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital next month.
Even members with limited crafting experience have gotten into the spirit. Trisha Brotherton of Camas, the club's president, describes herself as "not very crafty," and yet she crochets every night now after putting her children to bed. She's completed three blankets and is working on a fourth.
"It feels good because I know I'm doing something that helped Laurinda through her grief," said Brotherton, 36.
After wrapping up the crocheting project, the club will start making quilts, which they hope to donate to hospitals on Aug. 10, baby Rowan's birthday.
"I just like the idea that her short life can continue to mean something to families going through a loss or a hard time with a baby in the hospital," Reddig said."
